Evangelism

Evangelism is a worldwide work for all Christians.

• Matthew 28:18-20 HCSB Then Jesus came near and said to them, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Each Christian is not only personally responsible to pass on the gospel but to pray for help in bringing more souls to Christ.

• Matthew 9:37-38 HCSB Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. 38 Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest."

Sharing Jesus Christ should be a way of life.

• Colossians 1:26-29 HCSB the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to His saints. 27 God wanted to make known to those among the Gentiles the glorious wealth of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. 28 We proclaim Him, warning and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ. 29 I labor for this, striving with His strength that works powerfully in me.

The Good News must be preached everywhere before Jesus will come.

• Matthew 24:14 HCSB This good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed in all the world as a testimony to all nations. And then the end will come.

You don't have to be a sophisticated, highly educated person to share Jesus.

• 1 Corinthians 2:1-5 HCSB When I came to you, brothers, announcing the testimony of God to you, I did not come with brilliance of speech or wisdom. 2 For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. 4 My speech and my proclamation were not with persuasive words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit and power, 5 so that your faith might not be based on men's wisdom but on God's power.

Evangelism is speaking for the Lord, but also modeling the truth. We are called to be representatives of Jesus. That means not only our words but our lives should represent Christ well.

• Isaiah 61:1 HCSB The Spirit of the Lord GOD is on Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and freedom to the prisoners;
• Matthew 5:16 HCSB In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
• John 13:35 HCSB By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
• 2 Corinthians 5:20 HCSB Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ; certain that God is appealing through us, we plead on Christ's behalf, "Be reconciled to God."
