Drug abuse
The Bible
doesn’t talk about drugs as we know of them today, but it does talk very
specifically about not putting things into our body that are harmful or that
are not glorifying to God. Taking drugs is trying to get a “high” – a feeling
of ecstasy and satisfaction that is a cheap substitute for the incredible joy
that comes when the Holy Spirit controls our life.
Just because you
can do something doesn’t mean you should do something.
Your body is a
temple of the Holy Spirit.
The primary
principle of life is God first, everything else second.
We are told that
everything is OK in moderation. Can’t that apply to drugs, too?
Whatever has control over you is your master. If God is your master, he
will raise you up and encourage you, but drugs will only tear you down and make
you a slave to their addictive power.
